‘The body benefits from movement, the mind benefits from stillness.’

~ Sakyong Mipham

The past few years of my life have been quite an incredible journey which includes many ups and downs.  From transitioning out of my thirty-two year career with the NSW Police, and discovering my love for yoga, I realised that mindfulness was the key to helping me deal with the ‘down’ part of my life.  This in turn then propelled me to complete my Yoga Teacher Training.

I have completed hundreds of hours of various yoga courses, including meditation, to deepen my knowledge and understanding of myself, in an endeavour to help my recovery.

I completed the Trauma Aware Yoga training in 2020 as I felt that this was an area I felt aligned to with everything I had experienced and gone through.  I found this course resonated with me and  I wanted to learn more in this area.

In June 2022, I went to Colorado in the United States and completed my Instructor Level 1 and 2 Teacher training with Yoga For First Responders.

Together with my love of yoga and all things yoga, I have always wanted to create Yoga Retreats for First Responders.  After experiencing my first yoga retreat and realising that was the beginning of finding my way home, I've had a deep passion to create the same experience for others on a similar path.   This includes a welcoming, fun and safe environment to assist retreat participants in reconnecting with themselves again using their body, mind and breath.  From that passion, Just You Yoga Wellness was born.

My aim is to provide future retreats for first responders, allowing them to reconnect deeply with themselves and others and have some fun and laughs along the way.

I have also reconnected with a former work colleague, Alana, who was also on her own mental health journey. Alana and another of her work colleagues, Pia, are the founders of another wonderful not-for-profit organisation; Emerge & See. Emerge and See aims to support and guide both serving and discharged emergency service workers, who suffer with PTSD.  Their aim is to be by their side from injury to recovery.

I am very excited to be able to support and work alongside Alana, Pia, Emerge and See and their members in any way I am able to,  specifically providing wellness programs including yoga and various workshops.

I encourage you to visit their website for a wide range of services; from legal advice; medical advice; wellbeing programs; and the many other amazing services they have to offer.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you want further information to do with anything on this site.
